Rush is also a host of the nationally known fishing series Local Knowledge TV, where he travels with fellow anglers exploring fisheries across the US and beyond. The show is now in its 11th season.
But Key West is home.
And when you step aboard Odyssea, that lifetime of experience goes to work for you.

Reef & Wreck Bottom Fishing
Drop Down. Hook Up. Hold On.
The reefs and wrecks surrounding Key West support some of the most exciting bottom fishing in South Florida.
Depending on where the fish are concentrated, we’ll work natural reef structure, wrecks and productive bottom looking for species such as:
- Mutton Snapper
- Yellowtail Snapper
- Grouper
- Amberjack
- African Pompano
- Permit
- Cobia
- Sharks
Some fish require finesse.
Others require getting them away from the wreck before they know what happened.
Either way, reef and wreck fishing is pure Key West action.
Odyssea’s own fishing information highlights the remarkable mix of snapper, grouper, amberjack, permit, cobia, African pompano, tarpon and sharks available around Key West reef and wreck habitat.
Key West Fly Fishing
Put Your Fly In Front Of A Florida Keys Trophy

Key West and the surrounding Florida Keys offer opportunities to pursue prized shallow-water species on fly.
Depending on conditions and season, opportunities may include:
- Tarpon
- Permit
- Other shallow-water and light-tackle species
Odyssea carries custom fly tackle along with spinning, plug and stand-up equipment, allowing the crew to adapt to different techniques and opportunities.

Key West Swordfishing
Drop Into The Deep For One Of The Ocean’s Ultimate Predators
Want something different? Let’s go swordfishing.
Just offshore of Key West, the bottom drops into incredibly deep water where swordfish patrol the depths.
Swordfishing is specialized fishing that combines heavy tackle, deep presentations, patience and the anticipation that the next bite could connect you with one of the most powerful gamefish in the ocean.
Odyssea has pursued swordfish in waters roughly 18 miles from Key West where depths exceed 1,000 feet, including both traditional nighttime techniques and the modern daytime fishery.
When that rod loads up, the entire boat comes alive.

Book Your Key West Fishing Charter Before Your Best Day Gets Taken
Key West is a year-round fishing destination, but individual fisheries change throughout the seasons.
Sailfish and blackfin tuna are especially popular during the cooler months, mahi fishing heats up during warmer months, tarpon opportunities peak around spring and snapper can provide action throughout the year.
That means your trip doesn’t start by choosing a fish from a menu.
It starts by looking at:
your dates + current conditions + seasonal opportunities + what you want from the trip.
Then we go fishing.
